The former representative of Iran in OPEC said: “The 13th government’s policy for petroleum sales has followed the right path and international statistics are proof of this.”
Referring to the statistics published by OPEC that the value of Iran’s petroleum exports in 2022 has exceeded 42 billion dollars, Mohammad Khatibi said: “The statistics presented by international sources are definitely valid and show that the 13th government has been successful in selling petroleum and despite the sanctions, it has been able to sell a significant amount.”
Stating that the current performance of the government shows that the policies applied regarding sales are correct and proper marketing has been done, he said: “International sources also admit that the sales policy is a correct policy that is being implemented correctly.”
Referring to the statistics and figures published regarding Iran’s petroleum exports, the former representative of Iran in OPEC said: “These figures are getting better every month, which shows the correct performance and appropriate policies in this sector, and we can expect good results in this sector.”
Regarding the potential of Iran’s petroleum sales, Khatibi said: “Sales statistics show that we have exceeded the figure of 1.5 million barrels. This progress continues. The monthly statistics also show that this figure is increasing. It seems that that despite the sanctions, the 13th government has been able to increase the export figure and this is related to the policy of activating inactive refineries and sending crude oil to those refineries.”
Emphasizing that these policies are correct and have worked, he said: “Equipping unused refineries and exporting technical and engineering services has been a big step in Iran’s petroleum industry, and this is a win-win game for Iran and the countries it cooperates with.”
The former representative of Iran in OPEC stated that it is a positive policy for countries that have such refineries, and this issue can be useful for Iran because by using technical and engineering services we were able to send crude oil to these refineries and sell part of the product to the same country and sell another part to other countries and this matter is in the interest of both countries.
According to Khatibi, Iran’s ability to export technical and engineering services also shows that there are many capabilities in the petroleum industry that can be taken advantage of if we continue with the same process and we can activate several refineries in Africa and this policy continues. We can hope to reach the figure before the sanctions.
The data of OPEC’s latest annual statistical bulletin shows that the value of Iran’s petroleum exports in 2022 exceeded 42 billion dollars. The value of Iran’s petroleum exports in 2022 reached 42 billion 600 million dollars, which has increased compared to 25 billion 500 million dollars in 2021, 7 billion 900 million dollars in 2020, and 19 billion 400 million dollars in 2019.
The record of more than 42 billion dollars for the value of Iran’s crude oil exports in 2022 shows that this figure is approaching the figure of 60 billion and 500 million dollars recorded in 2018 following the increase in the sale of petroleum shipments.
The total petroleum export value of OPEC members in 2022 reached 873 billion 500 million dollars, which shows an increase compared to the figure of 566 billion 400 million dollars recorded in 2021.
Meanwhile, the US Energy Information Administration recently announced in a report that the Islamic Republic of Iran, with an income of $54 billion from petroleum exports in 2022, took the fifth place among OPEC members.
The data of OPEC’s annual statistical bulletin also indicates an increase of 161 thousand barrels in Iran’s crude oil production in 2022 compared to 2021, so that according to the statistics of secondary sources, Iran’s crude oil production in 2022 will be 2 million and 554 thousand barrels, while this amount was 2 million and 392 thousand barrels per day in 2021.
