The chairman of the board and CEO of Qeshm Free Zone Organization said: “The important and strategic position of Qeshm international island in the area of maritime-based economy has turned this region into a connecting bridge between Iran and the member countries of the Shanghai economic pact.”

At the international event of peer-matching in Iran's maritime-based economy, held with the presence of 12 ambassadors from foreign countries in the hall of Qeshm Sorinet Hotel, Adel Peighami stated: “The establishment of the TEMP regional office in Qeshm international island facilitates the entry of Iranian economic activists and producers into the market of member countries and cooperation with companies and investors of Shanghai member countries.”

He announced that all maritime-based economy businesses, such as marine tourism, aquaculture, shipbuilding industries, etc., exist on Qeshm island, and added: “The choice of Qeshm to host this international event indicates the island's position in the global economy.”

According to the CEO of Qeshm Free Zone Organization, the country's maritime development document, which had been stalled for several years, is now being written by the President's order, and what we need as a maritime-based culture is abundantly seen in Qeshm island, and this culture is alive in the heart of the local community, so that the people of this region have had economic relations with African countries, India, China, and Scandinavia for more than a thousand years.

He stated: “The barge building industry in Qeshm has a long history, and we are the inheritors of indigenous technology and knowledge of this industry. Currently, more than 12 barge manufacturers are operating on this island, and we have received new requests for the continuation of this industry.”

Peighami said: "Peer-matching among economic activists had been established to some extent before this event, and memorandums of understanding have been created, but we expect the companies that are present in this important conference to take the best advantage of this opportunity for the development of maritime-based economy businesses."

He noted that international economic activists from 12 foreign countries, along with their country's ambassadors, are present in this conference and clarified that the Shanghai Pact has a B2B (business to business) layer, and the TEMP platform, which is between Qeshm Free Zone and the operational branch of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, is essentially made for B2B communication.
