A knowledge-based Iranian company has achieved the technology of producing transparent nano-coating super-hydrophobic paints; paints and coatings that have unique stability against atmospheric factors, environmental humidity and UV rays and have very high self-cleaning properties.

Stating that this company started its activity last year, Dr. Nima Haghshenas, the chairman of the board of directors of this knowledge-based company said: “Our team has already had a history of extensive research in the field of paints and has recently been able to formulate super-hydrophobic paints and coatings. Due to its super-hydrophobicity (contact angle of the drop: over 150 degrees), the nano paints and coatings have a unique stability against atmospheric factors, environmental humidity and UV rays, and very high self-cleaning properties, so that pollution and dirt do not remain on the facade surface. These nano paints and coatings have high adhesion to plaster, cement, concrete, brick, metal and cement board surfaces, so they are perfectly suitable for painting and protecting all types of external elements of the building.”

Stating that the knowledge-based products of this company have a super-hydrophobicity certificate from Sharif University of Technology and Paint Research Institute, he added: “We have completed the research and development process since last year and entered the incubator of Shahed University. One of the good happenings to our company in this incubator was that we were allowed to set up a chemical laboratory, and such a laboratory helped us a lot to advance our goals and we were able to expand the research and development of our products.”

Referring to the two products that have been produced and launched in this knowledge-based company, the chairman of the board of directors of the company said: “The first product is the building facade paint with super-hydrophobic properties. Unlike similar products in the market, this product has some special and new properties. Its first feature is that this paint can act as a thermal insulator and prevent energy wastage and has self-cleaning and super-hydrophobic properties. This feature is based on Nano, which the American and English competitors have not yet achieved. The second product of the company is a nano-coating with a super-hydrophobic feature that keeps the original texture of the materials without changing the color and shape of the materials and at the same time makes them self-cleaning. Another feature of this product is its anti-nitrate and anti-decay properties.”

Referring to the fact that the properties of the paints produced in this company do not have a time limit, Haghshenas said: “We have guaranteed our products unconditionally, because we use nanoparticles for their durability and we trust our products.”

He pointed to another product of this company and said: “Another product we have produced is a paint that can be fire and flame resistant. This product has been different from all similar items in the market, because in addition to being super-hydrophobic, it has anti-corrosion properties.”

The chairman of the board of directors of this knowledge-based company also discussed the export of the company’s products: “So far, our company’s products have been well received in the domestic and foreign markets. We have set up our export department and we have also entered into negotiations with some foreign investors and they have suggested that we set up a branch of the factory in one of the Persian Gulf countries.”

Haghshenas continued: “In the domestic market, many activists in the field of construction have bought our products, but due to the fact that our company is newly established, we have not yet entered the capillary distribution of our products in the market, and conduct projects for our customers. However, we have provided our cooperation and presented our products in construction projects in various regions, including Tehran, the northern provinces of the country, Khuzestan and Hormozgan.”

Quoting the public relations of Innovation and Prosperity Fund, he also emphasized that this knowledge-based company has provided direct employment for 10 people and indirect employment for 40 people.

The CEO of this knowledge-based company said about the support of the Innovation and Prosperity Fund for this company: “Not long ago, we attended the construction industry exhibition pavilion with the support of the Innovation Fund. Our presence in this exhibition was very effective and greatly helped the development of our company’s market. In the field of receiving facilities from the banking network, our company, like many other start-up knowledge-based companies, has problems. Companies that operate with technological and knowledge-based ideas, like large economic enterprises, do not have real estate capitals that they can use as a guarantee, and this has caused us to not be able to receive the facilities we need for the development of the company and our products. Part of our need is based on the fact that banks and other financial institutions that provide facilities recognize knowledge as a guarantee, like other capitals.”
